Walden Community Club

Welcome!

The Walden Community Club (the “Club”) is a shared-use recreational facility dedicated to fostering active living, community spirit, and meaningful social connection for residents of Walden Spinney — a unique, master-planned residential neighbourhood in Mississauga.

Our Mission

The Walden Community Club exists to promote community spirit and foster interest in athletics, recreation, and social connection among users of the Walden-Spinney community. The Club is dedicated to establishing, equipping, maintaining, and operating a community centre and shared facilities for the benefit of its users.

This includes promoting amateur sport and healthy lifestyles, encouraging volunteerism and leadership, and organizing classes, events, games, and gatherings. Users have access to a wide range of amenities, including a fitness centre, swimming pool, sauna, indoor and outdoor pickleball, squash, and tennis courts, a lounge and library, as well as billiards, darts, and ping pong.

The Club strives to strengthen community ties, provide inclusive programming, and create a welcoming environment for all residents.

  • The Club is a not-for-profit, shared-use amenity governed by a Board of Directors and subject to the Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (ONCA). Each of the nine participating corporations (eight condos and one rental building) appoints a representative to the Board of Directors to represent its members' interests and oversee the operation of the Club and its programming. It is incumbent upon each Director to ensure that their constituent owners are kept informed of the Club’s activities, policies, and matters brought before the Board. As a corporate entity, the Club is required to file annual tax returns as a not-for-profit corporation and must maintain up-to-date records with the relevant provincial authorities.

  • Walden Spinney was developed and named by Bill Small. In the early stages of planning the community, Mr. Small and his father took a trip to Boston, where they visited a state park located between the towns of Concord and Lincoln. There, they spent time at Walden Pond — a peaceful body of water roughly half a mile long and nearly two miles in circumference. Its shoreline is dotted with white stone and sandy beaches, and it is surrounded by wooded hills and a spinney (a small wooded area). Moved by the quiet beauty of the setting, the Smalls chose to name their Mississauga development Walden Spinney in its honour.

The Walden Community Club was officially incorporated on December 18, 1991, as a separately registered not-for-profit entity. It was created to serve the shared recreational needs of the Walden Spinney community — comprising eight condominium corporations and one rental apartment building, Walden Glen.
